we are warriors of the weekend.

I cannot believe we were able to do this so quickly.  I dreamed up this elaborate project a few weeks ago and Andrew was without a doubt involved. He did an awesome job. His precision is always necessary on my projects, as I tend to be much more right brained! Take a look at the process:

It started with two pieces (4' x 8') of birch wood. We carefully measured out the design....

Then cut it out in the back garden.

Painted it kelly green.

Added a gold metallic border.

Stood it up and was pleased.

Andrew bolted it to the existing bed frame and I applied a monogram.

I wanted the headboard to be super tall.... almost to the ceiling.

Voila! Added a little color to our bedroom in just a weekend.

more soups

Though it was unseasonably warm in DC this weekend, I still tested out a new soup recipe. I thought we could save it for next week, as the weather should be getting back to DC's winter norm..... cold!! This recipe for Spiced Lentil Soup, again from the Sprouted Kitchen, was delicious.
